Shopify Fall '26 Edition: What Indian Merchants Can Use
In short: Shopify's Fall '26 Edition (28 October 2026) expands Campaign Autopilot to Microsoft Advertising, Snapchat and SEO recommendations, adds automated WhatsApp abandonment recovery (Shopify says available in most regions including India), clearer paid-versus-organic attribution reports, a Sidekick CRO workflow tested through SimGym, and AI shopping tools such as shop.md and Universal Checkout. Shop Campaigns expands to 35+ markets, but India's eligibility is not listed.
- Usable in India (per Shopify): WhatsApp marketing and abandonment automation, with consent, Meta template approval and messaging charges.
- Check eligibility: Campaign Autopilot channels, Sidekick with SimGym, and unified attribution reports.
- Not confirmed for India: Shop Campaigns (35+ markets, India business address not listed) and AI-shopping features that are partner or region dependent.
- Simulated CRO results and platform attribution are guides, not proof of incremental sales.
The short version
Shopify releases a big "Edition" twice a year. The Fall '26 Edition, announced 28 October 2026, has many items. Here is how we sort them for an Indian store owner.
Campaign Autopilot: more channels
Campaign Autopilot uses store, product and sales data to propose campaigns, which you approve within guardrails you set. Shopify says it now extends to Microsoft Advertising, Snapchat and SEO recommendations, with X Ads listed as coming soon, alongside Meta Ads. Autopilot itself is free, but ad spend and messaging charges still apply. Check your store's eligibility and set budgets before switching it on. Treat proposals as drafts to review, not decisions to accept blindly.
WhatsApp recovery (the most relevant for India)
Shopify Messaging now collects WhatsApp marketing consent at checkout and can run automated campaigns for product-browse, cart and checkout abandonment. Shopify says WhatsApp marketing is available in most regions, including India. See our separate guide: Shopify WhatsApp abandoned-cart recovery for India.
Clearer attribution reports
Unified marketing reports separate paid, organic, direct and unattributed traffic and show cross-channel sales metrics. Shopify's documentation notes updated traffic classification around 18 October. Annotate that date in your reports, compare Shopify's numbers with GA4 and your ad platforms, and remember that attribution is not incrementality.
Sidekick and SimGym for CRO ideas
Sidekick can recommend store improvements and show tests created through SimGym before you choose what to apply. It is a quick way to generate hypotheses. Simulated results are not real-world proof, so run live tests before declaring a winner.
AI shopping: shop.md and Universal Checkout
Shopify introduced shop.md, a customisable shopping skill that helps supported AI agents search Shopify's catalogue and facilitate Shop Pay checkout, and Universal Checkout, which lets shoppers buy from multiple merchants in one checkout. Availability varies by region and partner. The practical action is unchanged: accurate product data, stock and policies. Read our AI shopping agents readiness checklist.
Shop Campaigns: 35+ markets, India unclear
Shop Campaigns, where Shopify says you pay when an ad drives a sale under program rules, now covers more than 35 markets including the UK, Australia and parts of Europe. India's business-address eligibility is not listed, so do not assume you can activate it.
What we would do this month
- Turn on and test WhatsApp abandonment flows, with proper consent.
- Review attribution reports against GA4 and ad platforms.
- Check your Knowledge base and product data for AI agents.
- Ignore features not available in India until Shopify confirms them.
