Ads in AI Answers: ChatGPT Cards, Bing Test, Brandlight
In short: Three updates on advertising inside AI answers: ChatGPT Ads is rolling out a wider standard desktop ad card that reuses existing creative; a practitioner spotted a sponsored result inside a Bing AI Overview, which is an observed test Microsoft has not confirmed broadly; and Brandlight launched an AI Ads capability for planning paid placements in AI conversations, through an early-customer programme. None is proven to improve performance, and India access is not confirmed.
- ChatGPT Ads: a wider standard desktop card. Existing campaigns and creative are reused.
- Bing: a sponsored result was spotted inside an AI Overview. The publisher could not reproduce it, so treat it as a test.
- Brandlight: a vendor announcement with a limited early-customer programme. Performance claims are vendor-reported.
- Compare desktop CTR, conversion quality and landing-page results before changing budgets.
ChatGPT Ads: wider desktop cards
An advertiser communication on 30 October, reported by Search Engine Roundtable, says ChatGPT Ads is rolling out a wider standard ad card that takes more of the conversation width on desktop. Existing campaigns and creative are reused, so there is nothing to rebuild. This is a change in presentation, not a proven performance gain. If the format reaches your account, compare desktop click-through rate, conversion quality and landing-page results with the old card. Our overview of the product is in ChatGPT Ads for Indian advertisers.
Bing: a sponsored result in an AI Overview (observed test)
On 30 October a practitioner shared a screenshot of a sponsored result inside a Bing AI Overview. The publisher could not reproduce it, and Microsoft has not confirmed broad availability. Treat it as an observed test. Search advertisers can watch Bing and Copilot placements and query reports, without assuming the inventory is open to Indian accounts. Brandlight AI Ads
Brandlight announced an AI Ads capability on 29 October. It combines organic AI-visibility data, campaign data and CRM context to help enterprises plan and optimise paid placements in AI conversations, including competitor visibility, conversation relevance and creative or landing-page suggestions. It is offered to a limited group of early customers, and its performance claims are vendor-reported.
What to do now
- Do not move budget on the strength of announcements. Run small tests where you have access.
- Measure downstream results: qualified leads or sales, not only clicks.
- Make sure your landing pages answer the question a person asked an AI, in plain language.
- Track AI referrals separately in GA4. See what to measure.
